Linkage

I've noticed that I blog thematically: From a footballer suffering a broken leg and sports injury actuaries, to BigDecimal and Money objects in programming languages, to software and books on quantitative finance. Previously it was advanced programming systems versus FreeBSD's libc_r.so. Before that it was distributed denial of service attacks.

Each blog entry in a thematic series usually refers to one or more previous entries by hyperlinking. A more recent one links to less recent ones, but those less recent ones cannot link back. At least, not automatically, not in the standard web. The part of the web that is the blogosphere does have a backlinking system, though: the trackback.

As an experiment, for my next blogging theme, I'm going to use trackbacks to backlink earlier entries to later ones.
