Leafpad

I write English text using vim or emacs. I'm using Abiword to input Chinese, because I'm clueless about setting up gvim or emacs to display Chinese text.

Abiword simply feels too big. So I set out to look for a light weight GUI text editor for X. This page mentions Leafpad.

Leafpad exists as a FreeBSD port but somehow isn't listed in the ports index. Installation was straightforward. The editor starts up quickly too. Just the thing I want.

Leafpad

Goodbye, Abiword.

Re: Leafpad

Entering Chinese is easy with Emacs. Just type:
C-x RET C-\
chinese-py RET
And you can enter chinese using pinyin notation. There're several input methods for chinese in Emacs besides plain chinese-py.

Re: Leafpad

Emacs tells me "no match". Googling "emacs chinese" returns lots of links telling me I need to install leim and/or mule and/or copy MS fonts from Windows, etc. Seems like a little bit too much work.

Thanks for the tip anyway. ;-)
