Communists And Software Makers

So Bill Gates used the words "communists" and "software makers" in the same sentence. Several bloggers have already responded to that. I've lost my trail through blogosphere on this topic, but I think I saw the phrase "commons-based peer production" repeatedly.

Googled. Clicked on a few links but found no satisfaction in their content. Many of the links point to this 80-page paper. I guess I'm going to read it.
